Though the apple trees in my yard are covered in snow right now, it doesn’t stop me from thinking ahead to fall and apple-picking season. The Apple Tree Game is a felt board activity that builds preschool math skills like counting and simple addition and subtraction. It also works for kindergarten math too! It’s fun and easy, and here is quick video that shows the game, just click HERE or on the image below:
I love any felt board game that also has a quick song to go along with it! This one can be played over and over to keep building those preschool math skills. If you don’t have a felt board, use whatever you have on hand, including rocks, play food, paper scraps, or buttons.
Speaking of apples, you might also enjoy hearing the story Apple Cake: A Gratitude by Dawn Casey and Genevieve Godbout. Click the image for the story video!
All this talk about apples is making me hungry! If you aren’t up for making an apple cake like in the book, try out this yummy Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal from Sweet Potato Soul that you can make with your kids. It’s so easy and delicious, it’s sure to please…and cooking or baking together builds preschool math skills with all that measuring and counting so keep the learning going while also getting a tasty snack. Hooray!
